Tuesday, September 29th, Luke turned 5 months old!

He is sooo big, literally and figuratively, and we just can't believe it. He is such a joy to be around and so snuggly these days with all that chub to cuddle! We love him more each day and could just cover him in millions and millions of hugs and kisses all day long. He's so alert and curious these days, and we have so much fun watching him learn and develop new skills all the time. Here are a few things about our 5 month old man.
~ Luke is definitely a people person. He will let pretty much anyone hold him and loves to be where the action is. He tends to stare at a new person for a good long while to size them up, then he busts out in a big, melt-your-heart smile to let them know they passed inspection.
~ People love Luke. The nursery workers adore him, and almost anywhere I go with him, someone comments on what a sweet, pleasant boy he is. Lots of people ask me if he ever cries, too. Oh, YES! He does cry plenty, but he really is a happy, content little guy.
~ Like his Daddy, Luke LOVES to play. He could spend all day playing in the exersaucer or the walker, but his favorite thing is to play with his toys on the floor. I think he just likes being able to move all around and do whatever he wants.

Playing on the floor and striking what we like to call his sexy calendar pose.
~ Like I said before, he loves to be where the action is, so now when we hold him against our chests, he almost always does a quick spin to face out and see what's going on. He really likes to do this when we sit down to rock him. No looking at the lame back of the chair for him.
~ He's gotten so long that he hardly fits cross-wise in his crib. This doesn't stop him from trying, though, and I often look in the video monitor to find him trying to tilt his head just right so that he can fit. I don't know what he's going to do when he can't make it work anymore!
~ He loves to sleep on his side now that he has a little more control over the whole rolling over thing. It still is a challenge for him to stay on his side sometimes. He tends to roll backward or forward a little too much, so sometimes it'll take several tries for him to get it just right. If he's too tired, he usually just gives up and goes to the ole standby--his tummy.
~ He is getting his first tooth and LOVES to chew on anything and everything, but he prefers other people's fingers to any and all of his own toys/teethers/fingers.
~ Luke thinks coughing is tons of fun. Yes, i said coughing. It's strange but true. He gets excited and does a fake cough, cough, cough so that you know he's pumped. He'll also do it to get your attention or if he thinks something's funny. We are looking forward to the day he discovers that a laugh or giggle gets the job done a whole lot better.
~ He is doing a lot better eating solids. He finally likes green beans more and loves fruit. We don't have to strip him down to his diaper anymore, so that is nice, especially now that it's getting chilly around here. However, now he acts like he's riding on a super awesome roller coaster while he eats. He throws his arms up in the air and leans waaaaaaay back and does his I'm-excited-cough in between bites. It's funny the first couple of times. Now we're sure it's just a matter of time till he flips himself out of his Bumbo seat.

This picture was after cleaning up, but this is exactly what he does between bites. He obviously thinks we're going to Six Flags Over Georgia when we're in Atlanta next week.
~ He loves to give us kisses and will occasionally give other people kisses, too. It's really cute, but we're trying to convince him that not every kiss needs to be a French kiss.
~ I'm sure you were dying to know this, but Luke is pooping much more now that he's eating solids, which is good and bad. Bad because we have lots more STANK diapers to change, but good because now that he's going more than once a week (YES, you read that right...ONCE every 7 days!), he seems more like a regular human being. Ha!
~ Luke doesn't recognize his name yet, and I am a little concerned that it might be because he thinks his name is one or more of the following: Punkin, Punkin Man, Stinker, Stinker Bug, Stinker Man, Big Man, Buddy Boy, or Sweet Boy. I'm working on calling him by his actual name more so that he doesn't show up to the first day of preschool and tell everyone his name is Mama's Stinker Bug.
Anyway, we love our sweet little stinker bug....er, umm....I meant to say we love LUKE!!
He's the best there is, and we are so blessed to call him ours!

Wondering why I am taking yet another picture.

Wondering when the heck Daddy's getting back in town, so Mommy will give him a break already.

Deciding to kiss and make up after the basket put him in a head lock last week.

his roller coaster also looks like Neo from "the matrix" dodging the bullet in slow mo'. HIGHlarious
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the Little Man next week....especially since I think he is going to be about the same size/weight as Finley bear...ha ha
