At some point last week (the days are all running together now), we had the PRETTIEST snow that I have ever seen. We got about 8 inches of wet snow that stuck to absolutely everything, making even the deadest, dreariest looking tree branches look gorgeous. Phil tried to get some pictures of it, but since there was so much snow on the ground, he couldn't really get past our deck in the backyard.
Looking out of our living room door. Notice all the sticks and branches in the yard that fell down b/c the snow was so heavy.
Another shot from the deck. Phil loves the top hat on the chimenea.
The day after this pretty snow, the weather was gorgeous. It was cold, but crisp with clear blue skies and lots of sun that blinded you with its glare, but didn't melt the snow at all. Did we take advantage of the spectacular day to take some good family pictures? No. We waited until a few days later and went out in FREEZING, miserable snowy weather to try to get some pictures while Phil shoveled the drive way. We didn't really realize how ugly and cold the day was. We were just hoping to keep Daddy company and build a Luke-a-like snowman in our yard.

What the heck is going on, people?

Is this supposed to be fun?
Luke was NOT loving our idea. You can't tell from the pictures, but it was actually snowing while we were outside. Plus, it was SUPER windy, making for one uncomfortable Tatum Tot. Luke wouldn't even break a smile, despite my many attempts at total ridiculousness. Finally our neighbor (and Reid's sister), Meghan, came over to say hi before heading out to shovel some driveways with her big brother.

She had more success getting Lukie Lu to crack a smile.

Do you think my parents are as ridiculous as I do?

I know...they're nuts!!!

Our attempt at a family photo in the snow. Luke remembers that he is miserable and stops smiling.

Mommy, trying to be optimistic, gives it one more try...much to Luke's dismay.
This is where we gave up. Luke was trying over and over to suck his thumb for some relief from all the torture, but his little hands were covered up by his snow suit. It just kept getting uglier, and we were SO darn cold, feeling like worse and worse parents as the seconds went by. After all of 10 minutes, we were back inside. Our snowman never even came close to looking like anything but a mole hill. Poor guy.
We have had more snow on and off and are sick and tired of it all...AND we're getting more this weekend. Not to mention, my little sister was supposed to be coming to visit, but she got snowed in in Dallas, of all places, and won't be coming. Now I'm really ticked!!
SNOW, SNOW, GO AWAY ALREADY!!!
