My friend Alisha has an adorable 4 year old named Ava. Ava is such a hoot. She says the most hilarious things all the time and is such a fun little girl to be around (although her parents might argue that that's not always the case). The other day I got to watch Ava for several hours while her mom went to a few appointments. Luke and I had so much fun!

This is Ava. Isn't she so pretty?
Luke thinks so, unless there are Cheerios in front of him. Then all he can think of is eating.
First of all, Ava was BEYOND excited to come hang out with "Baby Luke". She is slightly obsessed with him. The day before coming over she was so excited about coming over that she kept asking her mom things like, "What does Luke's house look like?...What does Luke's room look like? What does Luke's kitchen look like?" I kid you not. She asked about the kitchen. When she arrived, she brought her lunch in her Hannah Montana lunch box, some "girl" toys (like a magic wand that she DID NOT want Luke to chew on), and some toys she thought Luke would like to play with (like a Little Einstein's computer). Alisha dropped her off, and Ava could have cared less that her mom was leaving for the afternoon. She was too excited to go upstairs with me and get Luke up from his nap.
When we walked into Luke's room, he was standing up looking at the door and waiting for me to get him out of bed. When he saw Ava he knelt down to get a better look at her through the crib slats, then he smiled a HUGE smile and started squealing with delight. It was the cutest thing! By this point Ava was jumping up and down asking, no telling, me that she could hold Luke in her "yap" (her L's sound like Y's. it's adorable). I convinced her to let me change his poopy diaper first. She, of course, wanted to stand on the chair and watch me...until she saw and smelled the poop. Then she rethought her decision to be so close to us and moved away.
We went downstairs and hung out for the next few hours. These are some of the hilarious things Ava said:
"Luke really likes me. He doesn't even cry when I hug him!"
When we were eating lunch and Luke made a face because he didn't like what he was eating, Ava said, "Oh no! He's gonna cry and then I'm gonna have to plug my ears!"
When I let her eat a bunch of chips and didn't make her eat all of her sandwich, she said,"You're nicer than my mom. She's mean."

She kept telling Luke that he was "so adorable".

Ava putting on a show for Luke, jumping up and down and rolling around on the floor. He loved it. You can't tell from the picture but he was cracking up and bouncing himself up and down like a crazy man in his seat. Yellow Man liked it, too.

She stood on the back of his walker, hitching a ride around the house... He's so strong, he didn't even notice.
After a while, it was time for Luke's afternoon nap. Ava was not happy that Luke had to take another nap, but I won her over with the video monitor. She thought it was so cool that we could watch him while he slept. We turned on the Disney Channel for her to watch, and she went to town playing with Luke's slide and our big yoga ball, stopping every once in a while to sing along with the "Wizards of Waverly Place" theme song. About every 10 minutes or so she'd ask me if she could look and see if Luke was still sleeping. Assuming she wanted to look at the video monitor, I'd say okay and then go to hand her the monitor. By then she'd be half way up the stairs, headed to Luke's room to look and see if he was awake yet... I'd explain that we couldn't go in his room because he was sleeping, and she'd come back down. Then 10 minutes later, it'd happen all over again....until she discovered that she could fit in his walker and his exersaucer.

Wearing lipstick (that she brought with her) and hamming it up for the camera. When I finished taking the picture, she said, "PLEASE don't send it to my mom. I don't want her to see me doing baby things."

Having way more fun than she'd like to admit, rolling all over the kitchen.

Once Luke woke up, she put more lipstick on and kissed his face over and over, just so she could leave lipstick marks on him and then rub them off. He spent that time trying to eat her shoe.
When her mom came to get her, Ava told her, "Luke likes me really bad!" Then when Ava was fussing about having to go home, Alisha told her that it was okay, because I was going to come over later that night. Ava looked up at me and said, "And the baby, too?" When I said no, that just I was going to be coming over, she was not happy. On her way home, Alisha texted me to tell me that Ava was telling her all about what she did at our house and then said, "Her house looks amazing." Ha! My house is not amazing, but I do appreciate the compliment, Ava!! A couple hours later, Alisha texted me again to say that Ava had just told her that "Luke probably really misses me." Luke was asleep in bed at that point, but I'm sure he would have been missing Ava had he been awake!
